Ready to enter the world of Coders? Ready to create Music using Coding Kits for Micro Bit and Raspberry PI boards? Want to Code in a group of fun and engaging tutors who "get you and always happy to help "? Learn to Code and Create Music and think Smarter-Skills for Children who think & engage differently. Code Club Sanderlings Drop In Sessions, is the home-schooling membership pathway of the Southend Music STEAM Tech Clubs, designed specifically for children who learn differently in tangible hands-on projects, outside the traditional classroom and whose parents are looking for deep learning experiences. This choice offers much more than a one-off activity session. What our Music Tech CODE CLUB is actually about At the centre of everything we do is Creative Music Tech Coding that challenges and inspires. We use the language of music — rhythm, pattern, cause and effect, listening, composing — as the on-ramp into computational thinking. A child who has never written a line of code in their life can, understand why a loop repeats, why a sequence matters, and why a small change at the start changes everything at the end — because they have just watched (and heard) it happen in a piece of music they built themselves, on devices like the BBC micro:bit and Raspberry Pi. This is not decoration. It is deliberate pedagogy. Music gives abstract coding concepts a body, a sound, and a feeling, which is exactly what many 8 to 11 year olds — particularly the sensory, hands-on, non-linear thinkers that make up a large proportion of our home-schooling community — need in order for a concept to truly land. But the deeper purpose of the club goes further than teaching a skill. We are shaping young minds through smarter thinking. Every activity, every "unplugged" challenge, every micro:bit build is chosen because it exercises a mental muscle: sequencing, prediction, debugging (learning to calmly find and fix a mistake rather than panic or give up), pattern recognition, and — crucially — decision making under uncertainty. A child who spends a term learning to debug their own code is quietly learning to debug their own thinking: to pause, to check their assumptions, to try again without shame. This is precisely the kind of self-directed, resilient thinker we want to hand back to you at the end of each term — someone who is a little more comfortable making decisions, a little more patient with mistakes, and a lot more confident saying "let me try that again".
